YK have been making lanterns and practicing the song “Laterne, Laterne” in German class. The legend says that Martin saved a poor man from freezing to death by cutting his cloak in half and sharing it with him. In the month of November children all over Germany participate in lantern parades  to celebrate this good deed. Tomorrow during our normal class hours we will parade through the school with our lanterns(no candles). My friend Elise, a retired German teacher, will be leading us with her guitar.
