The leadership of the Rivendell Board of Directors is extremely important. These individuals commit to keeping the school financially sound; advise the principal about good practices of financial management and distribution; determine the availability of dollars for raises and other compensations; oversee facility management; deal with legal issues and insurance; listen to the principal and all stakeholders for input about specific issues such as the lunch program, playground development and fundraising opportunities. The members of the Board serve three-year terms. Perhaps the most significant aspect of Board service is the fact that these people volunteer their time and expertise in the service of the school. This is a testimony to their commitment to the vision of Rivendell and contributes significantly to the culture of participation, ownership and responsibility.
